It took a few days before we got to Hagia Sofia.

We had planned going earlier but I think arrived at the wrong time of day. Ended up at Topkapi Palace instead. In any case our return trip included some company from the hostel. Nice to adventure with new people.

We arrived outside the mosque and made our way towards the door. It was at this point we were approached by a guide offering to show us around. After some discussion we agreed and I do think it made the experience a lot better.

Heading inside was incredible. The building is simply magnificent. You could feel the history, the serenity, the weight of its energy.

One element that was pointed out by our gguide was a key hole that provides an interesting perspective of the interior. Would never avve thought or know to look if it hadn’t been pointed out. The photo doesn’t do it justice.
